My name is Helen Peterson, and in addition to being a writer, a mom, I’m also a lover of all things vintage. This love started early for me, when my grandmother would drag me around to yard sale after yard sale, allowing me one thing from each. She appreciated not just a good bargain, but the beauty and utility of things other people saw as trash. I was happy to follow in her footsteps.

Today I continue to haunt yard sales, flea markets, and auctions looking for that special piece for either my own collection, or my Etsy store. Everything I buy has to speak to me in some way, I could never invest in something for my shop that I wouldn’t be proud to own myself.

I also like to take things that appear to be beyond use and transform them in some way. With a crafter’s touch, I can take almost anything destined for the landfill and make it something anyone would be proud to have in their home.

So come along on my adventures with me. Here, we’ll blog about upcycling crafts, the history of the items in my shop, and picking trips. Enjoy!
